RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK. N.C. — The RTI University Collaboration Office (UCO) hosted its annual Internship Showcase on Aug. 5, bringing together 150 participants from around the globe, including the U.S., South Africa, Costa Rica and Germany, via Zoom.
The showcase provided a stage for 26 of the 80 summer interns to share their internship experiences and projects. Additionally at the event, UCO presented its Outstanding Intern Mentor Awards to dedicated staff who host and mentor interns.
The showcase was attended by RTI staff, family and friends, and education professionals. Interns delivered presentations on topics including finance, statistics, project management, engineering, data science, climate change and facilities, demonstrating the expertise they further developed in their internship and illustrating how they contributed to RTI projects.
“The Internship Showcase is an excellent example of how RTI has adapted to remote and hybrid work since the beginning of the pandemic while continuing its long tradition of talent development,” said BriAnna Walker, the UCO’s Senior Program Specialist and the showcase’s lead organizer. “The RTI Internship Program offers students and recent graduates incredible opportunities to learn and to develop their careers through the dedication of RTI staff.”
The Outstanding Intern Mentor Awards recognize intern supervisors and mentors who make a dynamic impact on an intern’s individual experience. Through a blind judging process, three awardees were selected from a pool of nominations submitted by interns. Nominations were evaluated on the following criteria: communication, collaboration, inclusivity, innovation and talent development.
