Karen M. Davis named Triangle Business Journal 2018 Women in Business Award Winner

Research Triangle Park, NC—Karen M. Davis, business group chief information officer and vice president of RTI International’s Research Computing Division, has been named a 2018 Women in Business Award winner by Triangle Business Journal.

These awards recognize Triangle women who are dynamic and outstanding leaders, with established track records of significant accomplishments in business and community service. Davis has extensive business experience in systems/software development, project management, financial management, human resources management and planning in various industries.

Davis joined RTI in 1999 and established the organization’s information systems group. Her leadership was instrumental in the selection, design, integration and implementation of many of the business systems required to support RTI’s growth to the present day.

Since 2005, Davis has led RTI’s Research Computing Division, which has more than 150 technology professionals working on projects for RTI clients. Under her leadership, the division’s contributions to RTI's mission have increased substantially. Achieving this result involved continuing to provide technology support to other divisions and units at RTI while expanding the portfolio of direct client projects.

In 2017, Davis was named business group chief information officer for RTI’s Social, Statistical and Environmental Sciences business.  In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that RTI’s technologies are aligned with the strategic goals of the organization and its clients.

“This year’s class of Women in Business Awards winners represents a vast array of knowledge and influence that spans across the entire Triangle and beyond,” says TBJ Publisher Jason Christie. “We are extremely excited to be able to honor these successful women.”

This year’s winners were recognized at an awards luncheon March 23 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina.
