Karen M. Davis to chair NCHICA Board of Directors

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – Karen M. Davis, business group chief information officer and vice president of RTI International’s Research Computing Division, has been elected the new Chair of the Board of Directors (BOD) of NCHICA (North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, Inc.), a nonprofit consortium dedicated to accelerating the transformation of the U.S. healthcare system through the effective use of information technology, informatics and analytics.

Davis has extensive experience in systems/software development, project management, financial management, human resources management and planning in several industries. With more than ten years of solid contributions to the NCHICA BOD, Davis has served admirably in multiple positions, including Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, President, and also as a member of the Executive Committee. As the new Chair of the BOD of NCHICA, Davis will focus on collaboration, engagement and thought leadership, to ensure that NCHICA continues its mission to transform healthcare.

“Karen’s dedication to NCHICA and her experience at RTI make her an ideal person to lead the NCHICA Board,” said Dave Garrett, outgoing Chair of the NCHICA BOD.

After joining RTI in 1999, Davis established the institute’s information system group which was critical in the selection, design, integration and implementation of many of the business systems required to support RTI’s domestic and international growth. Since 2005, Davis has led RTI’s Research Computing Division, motivating and managing more than 150 technology professionals working on projects for RTI clients. In 2017, Davis was named business group chief information officer for RTI’s Social, Statistical and Environmental Sciences business, RTI’s largest business unit.  In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that RTI’s technologies are aligned with the strategic goals of the institute and its clients.

Davis, a dynamic and outstanding leader, was also recently honored as a Triangle Business Journal 2018 Women in Business Award Winner, for her track record of significant accomplishments in business and community service.
