Global Health Experts Available for Interviews at ASTMH

Global and national public health experts will gather this week in National Harbor, Maryland for a five-day conference hosted by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH). RTI International (RTI), a nonprofit research institute with deep experience in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, will deliver 37 presentations at the conference and is offering interviews with four of our premiere experts about their research.

  • Who:                    
  • Katie Zoerhoff, Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research Learning and Adapting (MERLA)  
    Katie has monitoring and evaluation experience in neglected tropical diseases, water, hygiene and sanitation, and maternal and child health.  She will be presenting findings from mass drug administrations conducted in 15 countries to combat neglected tropical diseases.
  • Donal Bisanzio, Senior Epidemiologist
    Donal is an expert in infectious diseases in humans and animals. Much of his research focuses on Lyme disease, malaria, West Nile Virus, and parasitism. He will be presenting on a recent collaboration with Columbia University to develop a predictive model for the spread of Lyme disease in the northeastern U.S.
  • Jeremiah Ngondi, Senior Neglected Tropical Disease Advisor
    Jeremiah is an expert in trachoma and provides technical assistance as part of the US Agency for International Development’s Act to End NTDs.
  • Scott McPherson, Senior Program Manager
    Scott provides technical and programmatic supervision to NTD control and elimination efforts in Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Nigeria for USAID's Act To End NTDs | East Program. He also Chair of the International Coalition for Trachoma Control, a coalition of partners dedicated towards eliminating trachoma by 2020.
