EPA awards STREAMS V contract to support scientific and engineering research

RTI will provide technical support for environmental cleanup technologies and pollution management nationwide

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded the Scientific, Technical, Research, Engineering and Modeling Support V (STREAMS V) contract to RTI International, an independent scientific research institute. The goal is to advance applied research and technology development across the agency.

The seven-year, multiple-award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract continues more than four decades of collaboration between RTI and EPA to strengthen environmental protections and respond to emerging challenges. The institute previously served as a prime contractor on the STREAMS I, II, III, and IV contracts.

“RTI is proud to continue to support EPA with hands-on scientific and engineering expertise that strengthens environmental protection nationwide," said Donna Womack, senior director of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at RTI. “From field investigations and laboratory testing to advanced data analysis and modeling, our team is focused on helping EPA evaluate technologies, improve cleanup methods and develop practical tools that address today’s environmental risks and infrastructure challenges.”

RTI and partners will provide EPA with scientific and engineering support to evaluate technologies, improve environmental cleanup methods, strengthen water and air quality protections, and develop practical tools for managing pollution and emerging contaminants. This includes field investigations, laboratory testing, technology development, data analysis, modeling and technical support that helps EPA respond more effectively to environmental risks and infrastructure challenges.
