|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eastern Nile Hydromet Network Design |
RTI designed an upgraded real-time data collection, data management, and data communications system to support hydrologic forecasting and flood early warning in Eastern Nile countries. |
| Eastern Nile Water Resources Planning Model |
Under contract to the World Bank, RTI developed the design requirements for a mutually-acceptable water resources planning model for the three eastern Nile states that would facilitate informed project decision-making and accurately predict the consequences of potential water resources projects. |
| Flood Risk Mapping in Eastern Nile Basin |
Led a multinational and multidisciplinary team tasked with collecting data, conducting a field survey, modeling terrain, conducting a hydraulic analysis, identifying and mapping flood hazards, mapping infrastructure, conducting an economic analysis, and analyzing and mapping the final flood risks in the Lake Tana region of Ethiopia and the Blue Nile in Sudan. |
| Nile Basin Decision Support System |
RTI supported the development and deployment of the Nile Basin Decision Support System (NBDSS), a transparent, easy-to use, documented, and scalable information management and decision support system tailored to meet the specific needs of riparian countries and other stakeholders of the Nile Basin. The system provides a common collaborative tool for cooperation among Nile Basin countries. RTI developed tools for hydrometeorological analyses and scenario modeling; model optimization; and Multi-Criteria and Costs-Benefit Analysis (MCA/CBA). We developed training materials and provided on-site training to NBI and national water resources engineers. |
