Polymer blend materials composed of an aromatic polyamide andflexible polyamide wherein the aromatic polyamide molecules areuniformly dispersed in a matrix of the flexible polyamide which areproduced by first blending the flexible polyamide and monomer(s)for the aromatic polyamide in a solvent, then next polymerizing themonomer(s) in the presence of a phosphite compound, resulting in atransparent gel product capable of being fabricated into usefulshaped articles without causing marked phase separation observed inpolymer blend materials obtained by conventional coagulationmethod. The in situ formed aromatic polyamide is uniformlydispersed in the flexible polyamide matrix even in fabricatedforms, giving improved transparency over the starting flexiblepolyamide and improved resistance toward chemicals such as acids,especially after heat treatment.
