Abstract
Excessive Daytime Sleepiness affects approximately 5% of the general population. Although, over-the-counter medications purported to enhance alertness are widely available, and stimulants are often prescribed for daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and other CNS disorders, there is little epidemiologic information on the use of medications (OTC and prescriptions) to promote alertness.
