Education

M.Sc., Wildlife Management and Control, University of Reading
B.Sc., Zoology, Wildlife Ecology and Management, University of Dar es Salaam

Thadeus Binamungu serves as the Chief of Party for the USAID Tuhifadhi Maliasili project. This program addresses dynamics that threaten habitat connectivity and the long-term persistence of biodiversity in Tanzania. This capacity-building work will create an enabling environment for the Tanzanian government, NGOs, civil society organizations, communities, and the private sector to engage in biodiversity conservation and natural resources management.

Mr. Binamungu previously served as the Chief of Party for the USAID PROTECT Activity, a program that strengthened conservation and wildlife law enforcement capacity in Tanzania. The project successfully reduced the supply of endangered animal parts and products and built the capacity of local institutions responsible for protecting Tanzania’s natural resources.

Mr. Binamungu joined RTI in 2016 with the acquisition of the International Resource Group. During more than three decades in wildlife management in Tanzania, he held leadership positions with the African Wildlife Foundation, taught at the college level, and conducted extensive field research. He is a member of the Wildlife Conservation Society of Tanzania, Nature Tanzania, and the Tanzania Association of Foresters and holds diplomas and certificates in forestry and biodiversity conservation.
