Thadeus Binamungu serves as the chief of party for the USAID PROTECT project, a program that strengthens the capacity of conservation and wildlife law enforcement in Tanzania. He develops and oversees our work to reduce the supply side of the illegal trade in endangered animals, such as elephants, rhinoceroses, and lions. As an institutional strengthening specialist, Mr. Binamungu works closely with the institutions responsible for protecting Tanzania’s natural resources.
Mr. Binamungu joined RTI in 2016 with the acquisition of International Resource Group. Over more than two decades in wildlife management in Tanzania, he has held leadership positions with the African Wildlife Foundation, taught at the college level, and conducted extensive field research. He is a member of the Wildlife Conservation Society of Tanzania and the Tanzania Association of Foresters, and holds diplomas and certificates in forestry and biodiversity conservation.
