Sonia Arias is a senior education advisor in RTI's International Development Group. Ms. Arias has more than 20 years of experience designing, leading, and managing multimillion-dollar education programs that include improving basic education learning outcomes, continuous teacher professional development, instructional technology, technical capacity building, operations research, organizational effectiveness, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning. She is currently the senior technical advisor for Teacher Professional Development and Research under the USAID-funded Uzbekistan Education for Excellence Program, where she provides strategic leadership, management, oversight, and quality assurance in areas including English as foreign language, Uzbek language arts, and mathematics.
She has worked with government agencies and ministries, multi- and bilateral organizations, nongovernmental organizations, civil society organizations, adult learners, implementing partners, technology experts, contractors, school administrators, researchers, and diverse stakeholders across the education spectrum.
Before joining RTI in 2021, Ms. Arias served as Project Director and DCOP-Tech at Chemonics International where she provided project strategy and vision, quality assurance, and technical advisement on the Accès, Équité, Lecture, Rétention, et Redevabilité! 1 Activity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
