Simon King is a Senior Research Education Analyst with RTI International’s International Education Division. Mr. King leads internally funded research to study the application of a behavioral science research lens to improve program design and implementation. He specializes in survey research in education by providing support, including survey design, data processing, and analysis. Additionally, he provides monitoring and evaluation of technical support to multiple early grade reading programs.
Mr. King has led capacity development efforts in Zambia, Cambodia, and Nepal. He works with ministry officials and local partners in all locations, providing technical training and support for research design and evaluation, including instrument development, item response theory, sampling, data collection and processing, analysis, reporting, dissemination of findings, and actionable learning.
Mr. King joined RTI in 2012, and he is a member of the Comparative International Education Society (CIES). Before joining RTI, Mr. King worked as a headteacher and teacher of mathematics and statistics in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Zambia, and North Carolina, USA.
