Shannon Vasamsetti is a Climate Adaptation Specialist at RTI. In this role, she bridges field-level programming of the International Development Group with the latest climate science and modeling of RTI’s Center for Applied Economics to integrate RTI’s deep expertise and experience into programming and project design. She is an experienced manager with technical expertise in climate change, adaptation, community-based adaptation, natural resource management, biodiversity, agricultural and rural development, climate finance, monitoring and evaluation, and ecosystem service valuation.   

Prior to joining RTI, Ms. Vasamsetti was a Senior Natural Resource Management and Climate Change Specialist at DAI, where she provided technical support to environment sector projects and business development. She was the Project Director for the USAID/Peru Prevent activity, where she provided contractual, technical, and financial oversight of the project and served as technical advisor to forestry work in Vietnam, where she supported yearly activity planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Her past roles include Deputy Chief of Party on the USAID Mekong Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change project, where she managed both technical implementation and operations of the project.   

For over a decade Ms. Vasamsetti has contributed expertise at the intersection of environment and international development and provided support to USAID projects around the world including in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Colombia, Laos, Peru, Thailand, Uganda and Vietnam. She speaks advanced Spanish.
