Robin Henke, a program director in the Education and Workforce Development division at RTI, has conducted research on elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education for foundations, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies since 1990. As an author of over 20 reports for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), she has extensive experience analyzing and reporting on NCES data regarding elementary and secondary school teachers, new college graduates who become teachers, postsecondary education students and their experiences, and other topics. Since 2008, she has contributed to the National Science Board’s biennial report on K–12 mathematics and science education in various capacities: project director, report author, and internal technical reviewer. She has also conducted primary data collection and analyzed those data as part of program evaluations for foundations and nonprofit clients.

Dr. Henke has served as project director for RTI’s Postsecondary Education Analysis Resources (PEAR) contract with NCES and its successor small-business set aside contract, Publications, Education Analysis, and Reporting for Sample Surveys, Assessments, and Administrative Data Collections (PEARSS), with Insight Policy Research. Based on her experience with NCES statistical and publication standards, Dr. Henke also advises on publications prepared for RTI’s postsecondary sample survey data collections for NCES.

In addition to designing, conducting, and reporting on analyses, Dr. Henke has conducted technical quality control on postsecondary education data analyses and reports for over 15 years, reviewing analysis plans and draft reports to provide quality assurance and quality control on statistics, writing clarity and accuracy, tables, and graphics. She works closely with data analysts, statistical programmers, editors and graphics experts to assess clarity of presentation and adherence to statistical standards and style guides.

Between producing her own work and assisting others in clarifying theirs, Dr. Henke has honed her writing and editing skills to produce clear, statistically accurate, and accessible reports for policymakers, researchers, and the public on behalf of government and foundation clients. She has particular expertise in applying NCES’s Statistical Standards and the Institute of Education Science’s Style Guide when conducting analyses and reporting them.
