Mark W. Pope is a program manager at RTI International, where he leads the Policing Research Program. His work includes projects focused on policing, law enforcement agency establishment surveys, law enforcement data systems and analysis, and law enforcement’s role in homeland security. Mr. Pope has led and worked on numerous law enforcement–related studies for the National Institute of Justice and the Bureau of Justice Statistics. His current research efforts focus on improving crime statistics on a national level through more detailed and comprehensive data collection and analysis.
He also has led RTI’s efforts to better utilize 911 Call for Service (CFS) data to improve law enforcement operational and strategic analysis, and to better understand community needs as cities and communities assess the role of law enforcement in the 21st century.
Mr. Pope also has an extensive background in managing and conducting large-scale evaluations.
