Marion Deerhake is one of RTI’s senior experts on environmental science. Her work has helped us make an impact on research and policy related to air quality, water quality, climate change, agriculture, waste management, and other issues fundamental to healthy ecosystems. With skills in program and project management, ecological and health risk assessment, regulatory analysis and development, outreach, and communications, she plays a key role in our mission to improve the human condition.
Ms. Deerhake’s leadership extends to public service. Over the years, she has served on more than a dozen state and local environmental boards. She is serving her fourth gubernatorial appointment to the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission and chaired its Air Quality Committee for 16 years. She also helped the state address climate change mitigation as a member of the North Carolina Climate Action Planning Advisory Group.
Ms. Deerhake has been with RTI since 1983. Since 2003, she has been certified as a mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. She is a member of the American Chemical Society, Air and Waste Management Association, and the Association of Women in Science.
