Kevin Boggs, MBA, PhD, brings more than two decades of experience in industry, nonprofit, and basic research to commercialization efforts at RTI. He manages IP licensing across all of the institute’s divisions, including identifying potential licensees and negotiating licenses.
Internally, Dr. Boggs focuses on ensuring business unit leaders and researchers are aware of the value of IP licensing. He also fosters relationships with external partners in an effort to build networks that will attract licensees and enable RTI spinouts to thrive.
While at the University of Memphis, Dr. Boggs founded and managed the school’s Office of Technology Transfer, where he worked in the areas of license negotiations; translational research projects analysis and funding; technology marketing; and promoting research collaborations with regional industry partners. He also managed faculty relationships and formed regional connections with entrepreneurship support networks and agencies.
Dr. Boggs also has worked in business development and IP management at Applied Genetics Technologies Corporation (NASDQ: AGTC); in life sciences licensing at the University of Florida’s Office of Technology Licensing; and in the department of biochemistry at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
