Karen Stefiszyn serves as a Gender, Climate, and Climate Finance Advisor for RTI’s International Development Group. She supports the integration of the strategic cross-cutting and intersecting themes of gender, climate, and climate finance into international programs.

Ms. Stefiszyn offers 20 years of professional experience as a gender expert within the fields of human rights law and international development. For most of her career, Ms. Stefiszyn has worked throughout the Africa region where she has engaged in research and advocacy with a range of stakeholders from private and public sector leaders, investors, and diverse groups of women. She has also worked in academia, and with multiple international organizations including the United Nations and the World Bank.

Most recently, she served as Gender Advisor for the Power Africa Off-grid Project, implemented by RTI, where she designed and delivered interventions to increase women’s participation in the clean energy sector in Africa, and to increase women’s access to clean energy products and services.

Ms. Stefiszyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (University of Western Ontario), and a Master of Studies degree in International Human Rights Law (University of Oxford).
