John Vavricka is an expert in the design, development, and evaluation of technology solutions that engage users with research and improve outcomes. He has worked with the U.S. Department of Education, state governments, charitable foundations, and non-profit organizations to design and develop a wide range of technology tools, from highly complex data systems to mobile apps for use in the classroom. Mr. Vavricka's expertise includes learning technologies, user interface and interaction design, technical web standards, data security and confidentiality (including FERPA), FISMA certification and accreditation, and Section 508 compliance.
Mr. Vavricka works closely with clients and partners to create multi-faceted approaches to education technology solutions, bringing together diverse stakeholders to create efficient, elegant solutions to the challenges in education today. His recent work includes the design and development of a learning management platform, ConnectEd Studios, which is now in use in classrooms around the U.S; the Completion Arch, an interactive data tool that provides quick and easy access to national-, state- and initiative-level data that describe the progress and success of community college students; and the National Center for Innovation in Career and Technical Education website, which includes interactive tools that translate research studies into actionable information, modular video trainings, and integrated social media channels including Twitter and LinkedIn.
Through his many years of work on Department of Education websites and IT systems, Mr. Vavricka has developed a sophisticated knowledge of federal web design and security requirements.
