Jeff Piascik, PhD, an expert in materials and testing technologies, develops and directs research programs related to novel material systems, surface modification for enhanced material properties, MEMs-based devices, and transformative technologies for water and sanitation health initiatives. He also serves as the lead systems integrator for the “Reinvent the Toilet” program (funded through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) to develop a waste treatment system for use in developing nations that converts human waste into burnable fuel, stored energy, and disinfected, non-potable water through a new biomass conversion unit.
Previously, Dr. Piascik worked as a software product manager and applications engineer for MTS Systems Corp., where he gained valuable experience in mechanical testing methodologies, testing protocols, and product development. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and conference proceedings and holds four US patents related to novel material systems.
