Ian McClenny serves as an energy specialist for RTI’s East Africa Energy Program, where he works with ministries of energy, utilities and the private sector to integrate energy storage at key junctions in the grid. He is responsible for the development of ancillary services markets, as well as transmission and distribution cost deferral strategies.
Mr. McClenny is an expert in chemical engineering in conventional and renewable energy field with primary interest in advanced batteries and next-generation energy storage technologies, fuel cells and generate sets for mobile, primary and backup power, and novel materials for advanced batteries, catalysis, and fuels processing. He has written several publications, including: “Energy Storage for the Grid and Ancillary Services” and “Advanced Batteries for Critical Infrastructure.”
