Hétter J. Núñez is a specialist in literacy instruction, teacher training, and educational materials development and works as a Senior Technical Advisor for RTI. He has worked as an elementary and middle school teacher and a university-level pre-service teacher trainer. In recent years, he has supported teacher professional development and educational materials production under several projects.

As a teacher trainer, Mr. Núñez led classes in literacy, Spanish teaching methodology, and instructional approaches for teaching language and literature at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán. In addition, he served as a technical assistant at the Honduras Ministry of Education and was an instructor in the regional literacy course offered by RedLei – the Network for Initial Literacy in Central America and the Caribbean. Mr. Núñez was also a pre-school teacher trainer in Guatemala in a course supported by the Organization of Ibero-American States.

As an expert in educational materials, Mr. Núñez wrote several volumes for the first editions of official grade 1-9 textbooks produced by the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán. He also advised on production of the new editions of official textbooks for grades 1-6 developed through USAID’s De Lectores a Líderes project in conjunction with the Honduras Ministry of Education. In addition, he has authored teacher training manuals and other guidelines on adjusting instruction to students’ learning levels. Mr. Núñez was also involved in developing new educational standards for the Spanish subject in grades 1-6 in Honduras. Previously, he was a teacher and the Head of Educational Technology at the Pan-American Agricultural University.

Mr. Núñez is fluent in Spanish and has obtained a certificate in University Teaching in Virtual Environments (Laspau, Harvard University), Instructional Design for Online Tutoring (Inter-American Development Bank) and is certified as an Instructional Design Specialist (Blackboard Academy).
