Exper Pius is an expert in natural resource management and currently supports the Chief of Party to provide overall leadership and management oversite for the technical and operations team, for the implementation of a five-year project, the US Agency for International Development's Promoting Tanzania’s Environment, Conservation, and Tourism (PROTECT). This project addresses dynamics in Tanzania that threaten biodiversity conservation and inhibit private sector led tourism growth in the wildlife sector. Mr. Pius also serves as technical team lead for Resources Rights & Governance for the project responsible for strengthening key GoT institutions, CSOs, and private sector associations to influence and change policies based on well-researched evidence to inform decisions.
Mr. Pius has over 14 years of experience in natural resources management in Tanzania. With RTI, Mr. Pius worked as the environmental management advisor for Natural Resources Management and Policy and later as the senior environmental management advisor for Resource Rights Governance and Policy Reform. Before joining RTI, Mr. Pius worked in the forest sector 8 years in Program Planning and Communication Department for the Eastern Arc Mountains Conservation Endowment Fund (EAMCEF) as Field Project Officer and later as Program Assistant - Planning and Communication.
