Accomplished senior energy expert Dawid Pieterse leverages over 35 years of experience advancing electricity access and sector reform across sub-Saharan Africa. As Chief of Party for Power Africa's Empowering East and Central Africa (EECA) Program, he currently leads efforts to strengthen utilities and expand energy access in 14 countries.

Previously, Mr. Pieterse led Power Africa's East Africa Energy Program, directing 5 years of technical assistance across 10 countries that supported over 5 million new grid connections and advanced over 1,700 MW in generation capacity. Before that, he drove successful utility privatization and performance initiatives at Umeme Ltd. in Uganda and Eko Electricity Distribution Plc. in Nigeria. At Umeme, he helped establish critical infrastructure upgrades and expansion plans during the utility's transition to private operations. His contributions positioned Umeme as a leading utility in sub-Saharan Africa under a cost-reflective tariff regime and listed on regional stock exchanges. In Nigeria, he advised on a $250 million capital investment plan to boost efficiency and reliability.

With extensive project management, utility optimization, and stakeholder engagement expertise, Mr. Pieterse is a trusted leader driving change across sub-Saharan Africa's energy landscape. He offers diverse experience spearheading complex energy projects in public and private sector organizations.
