Dr. Basil Mahayni is an Associate Director in RTI’s Agriculture, Water, and Environment Division. He currently serves as the project manager for the USAID-funded TuMUNI project in Ecuador and contributes to business development and thought leadership within RTI. 

Dr. Mahayni brings extensive experience and expertise in water security, including water resources management, rural and urban service delivery, infrastructure, and policy and regulatory reform. He also has experience in natural resources management, municipal service delivery and finance, livelihood and vocational training programs, food security, humanitarian response activities, and higher education. 

Prior to joining RTI in 2024, Dr. Mahayni was a Senior Associate at Tetra Tech, managing USAID-funded projects, including Workplace Advancement for Gender Equality, URBAN WASH, Uganda Sanitation for Health, and West Bank/Gaza Non-Revenue Water Management. He also supported or led numerous proposals. He also served as the Deputy Director for the USAID Sustainable Water Management Project, which was a global water security program funded by USAID Washington.
