Ana Perez is a committed gender equity advocate, a social change activist and dynamic global business leader who brings over 20 years of experience in the development and private sectors and ten years of direct experience implementing gender-smart solutions in the energy sector. She currently serves as a Senior Gender Technical Advisor on the Learning, Energy, and Environment for Development team, part of RTI’s International Development Group, and as the Associate Director of the RTI Global Gender Center.

Ms. Perez led the design and operationalization of a gender integration program for a large private energy company that transformed its operations into a more equitable work environment for women. She is a seasoned professional with private sector experience in project management, financial planning, internal auditing, marketing strategy, engineering, and global business development in the Renewable Energy space. Ms. Perez held commercial customer relationship management responsibility for a large ($650M) Fortune-500 account with electronic manufacturing services (EMS) in Mexico and Thailand. She turned around financial performance and improved customer satisfaction by driving strategic projects to improve quality, lower cost and increase supply chain flexibility.

She was inspired to focus her career on advocating for the advancement of gender equity given that throughout her entire career she worked in male dominated fields.  Shortly after she graduated from engineering school, she became the first woman in Mexico to be certified as a welding inspector by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT).

She is well-versed in the latest trends in gender equity strategies and approaches, particularly for organizations and projects in the energy sector.

Ms. Perez has provided technical gender advisory services for projects in several countries, including Mexico, Dominican Republic, Peru, Jordan, Tunisia, Iraq, Thailand and Canada. She is a certified ILO – Participatory Gender Audit (PGA) facilitator and has led and completed gender assessments in organizations in the Middle East, Mongolia and most recently of the entire energy sector in Rwanda.

Ms. Perez is a public speaker and advocate on gender equity and social inclusion issues, having led the curriculum development and facilitation of gender workshops around the world.
