Amrita Mahtani is a water and sanitation specialist for RTI’s International Development Group and currently supports the USAID/Nigeria Effective Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Services (E-WASH) Program, business development for emerging WASH opportunities, and thought leadership initiatives. In her role with E-WASH, she provides technical assistance to the field team, writes progress reports, and supports developing knowledge management products.
Ms. Mahtani previously worked for an NGO and led a city-wide urban sanitation program in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The sanitation reform program focused on local governance, private sector growth, and community engagement. She has also worked in Cambodia researching the water and sanitation needs of women in girls in rural areas. Ms. Mahtani spent five years in the U.S. private sector, managing a lab where she was a product development engineer for point-of-use drinking water products sold to India, China, and the Latin American markets.
