Economic Development Expert Available for Interview on Nationwide, Regional Recovery and Repair Planning from Impacts of COVID-19 Pandemic

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Sara Lawrence, program director of economic development at RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, is available for media interviews on the economic recovery process geographic regions across the United States are facing, and will continue to face, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her research on the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic is intended to help policymakers and stakeholders across the country address uneven growth and position regions for continued economic development and recovery.

Lawrence recently created a blueprint of 12 research briefs for economic recovery in the Research Triangle Park region within North Carolina. The effort was initiated to help define and address disparities and position the surrounding areas for economic growth. Her recommendations and insights could serve as a model to help guide other regions across the country toward economic repair and recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

She has wide-ranging experience in innovation and technology-based economic development in urban and rural settings. Lawrence has worked with various levels of government and some of her focus areas include helping innovation hubs advance economies, economic development policy and program evaluation, and industry sector analysis.
