2025 Year in Review

In our long history, RTI has never stood still. We adapt to the world around us to make a measurable, positive impact in people’s lives through science-based solutions. 

In 2025, our willingness to adapt in the face of disruption was more necessary than ever. We made tough decisions and our resilience was tested.  Guided by our core values, our mission, and our purpose, we confronted significant challenges and took meaningful steps to position RTI for the future.    

We could not have done this without the trust and dedication of our people, the strength of our culture, and the support of our partners. 

In 2025, we achieved our North Star goal to positively impact the well-being of one billion people through science-based solutions by 2030. The achievement represents real lives improved, real communities strengthened, and real problems addressed because of the dedication of our staff and our focus on mission and purpose.  

We emerged from 2025 as a stronger organization. Our blend of public and private sector partnerships and commercial exploration is resulting in meaningful impact and opening doors to new possibilities. We are expanding our energy technology facility, the RTI Pilot Xcelerator (RPX), where we pilot new energy solutions for commercial and government clients. RPX is the only privately owned energy pilot laboratory in North Carolina and one of a handful in the U.S. Through our diverse expertise, we are also supporting our servicemembers as they transition to civilian life, finding benefits of AI in health communication, exploring smart approaches to the building of Big Data centers, unlocking the potential for sustainable infrastructure, and so much more. All of this is in service to our mission to improve the human condition.

Through nearly 70 years of innovation, RTI staff have driven landmark scientific discoveries, groundbreaking research, and life-saving program implementation. In the face of the disruption, the RTI of 2025 continued that tradition of impact, while creating a new direction for the organization. I am excited about all the possibilities that lie ahead.
