RTI Press Method Report

Using a model-aided sampling paradigm instead of a traditional sampling paradigm in a nationally representative establishment survey

Berzofsky, M.E., Welch, B.L., Williams, R.L., & Biemer, P. (February 2008).

When surveying populations that are difficult to find or whose sample size is small, model-aided sampling, a hybrid of traditional, probability sampling and model-based, quota sampling, works best, according to RTI researchers. This model can help reduce the excessive burden and costs of administering large-scale surveys involving smaller subpopulations.

Abstract

When surveying populations that are difficult to find or whose sample size is small, model-aided sampling, a hybrid of traditional, probability sampling and model-based, quota sampling, works best, according to RTI researchers. This model can help reduce the excessive burden and costs of administering large-scale surveys involving smaller subpopulations.
