Connect

Will Parkin is a research analyst in security threats & extremism. He is currently working on simulation modeling of human behaviors during targeted violence events at soft targets and crowded spaces in the United States. Throughout his career, Dr. Parkin has collaborated with national experts on a wide variety of topics, including far-right extremist violence, the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative, community policing, and the community impacts of misdemeanor prosecutions.

Dr. Parkin’s research interests include terrorism, domestic extremism, and ideologically motivated violence; climate change and domestic security issues; public safety community-based initiatives and policies; violent victimization; and utilizing agent-based modeling to examine violent targeted attacks. Prior to working at RTI International he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, Criminology & Forensics at Seattle University.
