Stephen Begumisa currently supports technical implementation, field operations and coordination of activities for the USAID-funded Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases | East Program in Uganda. He is a public health professional with more than eight years of experience in public health service delivery and management of health-related projects and programs focused on neglected tropical diseases, malaria, family planning and reproductive health.

Before joining RTI in 2020, Mr. Begumisa provided technical support and leadership on the five-year United States Agency for International Development/President’s Malaria Initiative-funded Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD) in Uganda, a program that contributed to reduction of malaria morbidity and mortality trends in Uganda’s central region.

Mr. Begumisa’s work experience also includes working with the Ministry of health, serving as the NTD and Malaria focal point person at the sub-national level for 10 years. During this time, he contributed to the elimination of Onchocerciasis (river blindness) in one of the target areas in western Uganda. He also led teams in vector control work to reduce black flies in northern Uganda.
