Meagan Abel is a research criminologist who studies domestic violent extremism and targeted violence, with expertise in mixed-methods research, open-source data collection, and program evaluation. Dr. Abel currently is working on the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) Grant Evaluations project, as well as the Exiting White Supremacy project. Dr. Abel’s research interests include ideologically-motivated homicide, mass violence victimization, public perceptions of crime, and media coverage of violence. Dr. Abel earned a University Distinguished Fellowship at Michigan State and was recently awarded the Richard Block Award for Outstanding Dissertation Research by the Homicide Research Working Group.
