Archana Krovi is a research chemist at RTI with over 15 years research experience designing and developing advanced polymeric materials to address global health needs. Her expertise lies in synthesizing polymers, fabricating nanoparticles, and engineering medical devices for controlled drug delivery. Dr. Krovi’s research focuses on the development of novel polymer and drug formulations to advance the field of implantable systems for HIV prevention, contraception, cancer, and opioid use disorder. She is also part of an interdisciplinary team focused on the fabrication and characterization of particles derived from high-commodity plastics, and conducts systematic evaluations of the exposure effects of well-characterized nanoplastics on complex biological systems.

Before joining RTI in 2019, Dr. Krovi was a senior process engineer at Intel Corporation where she developed novel defect-free process technologies to support efficient photomask manufacturing. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, she synthesized antiretroviral prodrugs for HIV prevention and evaluated their pharmacokinetics in small animal models. Her graduate research at Northwestern University was focused on the synthesis and surface modification of polymer nanoparticles as drug delivery vehicles for breast cancer therapy.
