RTI International’s Marcus Berzofsky recognized as an American Statistical Association Fellow

Senior research statistician honored by ASA for professional contributions to the field of statistical science


RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, announced Marcus Berzofsky has been recognized as an American Statistical Association (ASA) Fellow at the 2023 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Toronto, Ontario. Berzofsky is one of 47 members to receive the esteemed distinction this year for their professional contributions, leadership and commitment to the field of statistical science.

The prestigious ASA Fellow designation is awarded each year to up to one-third of one percent of ASA members, who have made outstanding contributions to the field of statistical science. Nominees are evaluated based on published works, professional accomplishments and positions held.

"I am honored to be among those recognized as an ASA Fellow," said Dr. Berzofsky. “I look forward to continuing my contributions to the field and working alongside fellow statisticians to advance our practice and profession."

Dr. Berzofsky, an RTI senior research statistician, is one of a select group of distinguished individuals to be awarded with this honor by the ASA this year. He brings more than 20 years of experience with expertise in all aspects of the design and analysis of complex surveys. Focused on studies related to criminal justice and access to health care, he has published more than 30 peer reviewed publications, more than 100 ASA proceedings papers and 30 reports with federal agencies.

Formed in 1839, the American Statistical Association includes over 19,000 members from academics, government, research and business. According to the ASA, its mission is to promote the practice and profession of statistics.
