Lauren Courtney has over 20 years of experience in epidemiological research and public health. She has extensive experience in infectious disease research and evaluations, global health security, with additional background in global HIV programs.

Ms. Courtney serves as project director and senior advisor on large projects funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in the areas of global health security (GHS), global HIV, and other global health programs. In her current role, Ms. Courtney leads projects focused on strengthening countries' capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to disease outbreaks to become compliant with the International Health Regulations. For the Surveillance of Acute Febrile Illness Aetiologies in Nigeria (SAFIAN), she conducts epidemiology research investigating unknown and emerging pathogens of interest. As Senior Advisor for a CDC GHS evaluation project, she oversees various GHS-related evaluations and activities, including an examination of the Field Epidemiology Training Program. She also works with the Nigerian CDC to strengthen their GHS capacity. As Project Director for a DoD HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAPP)-funded project, she leads a team in South Sudan to improve HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in remote underserved populations.

Ms. Courtney is an experienced director with expertise in study design, evaluation, project management, stakeholder engagement, training, and field operations.
