Local-option levy
Klein, S. (2006). Local-option levy. American School Board Journal, 193(6), 31-32.
Abstract
To promote educational equity, many states have adopted formulas that redistribute local property tax revenue evenly across school districts. Many districts also attempt to pass local option levies to generate additional tax dollars that remain with their district. This article reviews strategies for increasing the odds of passing a local option, particularly when districts face a supermajority requirement that requires districts to meet both voter turnout and voter approval requirements.
