Study on methane emission reduction potential in China's oil and natural gas industry
This report presents preliminary findings from a study conducted by the China University of Petroleum (Huadong) and RTI International and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As part of this study, the China University of Petroleum (Huadong) conducted interviews with oil and gas field managers in China to review current methane mitigation activities and evaluate the potential for international methane emissions reduction best practices to be applied in the Chinese oil and gas industry. Based on these interviews and a review of existing literature, a list of the most promising technologies and practices in the production, processing, and transmission and distribution sectors were identified for methane emissions in China.
