Abstract

To support states in improving the quality of their Perkins accountability data, the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, US Department of Education, invited State Directors of Career-Technical Education to submit requests for individualized technical assistance. In response to a request by the Alabama Department of Education, MPR researchers provided targeted technical assistance to help the state improve the validity of secondary technical skill attainment data and to expand the collection of placement data for secondary and postsecondary CTE concentrators who seek employment, who enroll in postsecondary education or advanced training, or who enroll in the military following program completion. This report details strategies for developing technical skill assessments and for instituting administrative record matching using a student's SSN
