Abstract

Research Objective: Section 3004 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) authorizes the establishment of a Quality Reporting Program (QRP) for the Long-Term Care Hospitals (LTCHs) in the US. In September 2010, CMS funded RTI to guide the identification and implementation of quality measures for the LTCH QRP. This paper presents the approach and findings from application of mixed methods research methodology to identify and implement measures for public reporting under the LTCH QRP.
