The purpose of this research was to investigate the underlying historical and present-day economic and political forces that have shaped the relationship between the tobacco manufacturing industry (TMI) and tobacco farmers (TFs); to examinehow this relationship influenced tobacco control policy; and to assessimplications for future public health and tobacco control advocacy.
