Abstract

The Tracking Postsecondary Outcomes for High Schools pilot produced many lessons that can be valuable for practitioners and policymakers across the nation in their efforts to promote college readiness and success. This paper highlights lessons and examples from three states for developing high-quality, valid and reliable data linking K–12 and postsecondary education. The lessons and experiences presented here may be particularly useful to the sponsors, designers, and developers of state longitudinal data systems (SLDS), who wish to build capacity to produce high-quality data and reports to help improve college readiness and success.
