RTI International to sponsor largest technology for development conference
ICT4D takes place May 16-19 in Nairobi and will examine role of technology in achieving the Sustainable Development goals
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—RTI International will be a Gold Sponsor of the eighth annual Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D) conference in Nairobi, Kenya May 16-19. The conference will convene experts from across the technology and development sectors to examine how information and communications technology (ICT) can help improve the lives of the world’s poor and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
“Advancements in ICT and data analytics are creating new opportunities to increase the impact of our development work,” said Paul Weisenfeld, executive vice president of the International Development Group. “RTI is excited to sponsor ICT4D, which will bring together hundreds of practitioners to discuss how we can best harness this ‘data revolution for development’ to improve lives.”
More than 700 professionals from 270 organizations and 75 countries are expected to attend, including several experts from RTI.
Benjamin Piper, Ph.D., RTI chief of party of the USAID- and DFID-funded Tusome Early Grade Reading Activity in Kenya, will discuss the Tusome National Tablet Programme, which is the first national scale implementation of an ICT program supporting improved instructional feedback in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Additionally, Julio Rank, an RTI senior business strategy specialist, will join a panel to offer insights on using technology to achieve the SDGs, and Nicole Barnes, vice president for business strategy and communications at RTI, will join the closing plenary panel to discuss key takeaways from the conference.
