Joe Eyerman, PhD, is a Senior Research Methodologist in RTIs Center for Data Science. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in the statistical modeling of social behavior and leading data collection and analysis projects.

Dr. Eyerman's substantive interest is in the formal and statistical modeling of the decision processes related to political behavior, terrorism, and international conflict. His recent methodological work has focused on the relationship between the data collection process and error in population estimates on a variety of bioterrorism, public health, and surveillance studies. Dr. Eyerman has conducted methodological studies to investigate ways to improve data quality and has conducted studies of survey nonresponse. He is an experienced project manager, survey methodologist, and data analyst.

Since 2013, he has directed the RTI UAS initiative to develop systems to support the transition of unmanned aircraft into the RTI research process. This process includes developing research protocols, reporting standards, ethics and risks requirements, analysis tools, field methods, and public perception assessments. He is currently supporting a DHS sponsored project to better understand the transition of drones into the first responder mission for fire, police, and emergency medicine.  He is also developing methods to use drones and artificial intelligence to locate public health risk factors to better respond to malaria, zika, dengue, and rabies.

In addition to his work at RTI, Dr. Eyerman teaches graduate courses at the University College Dublin (Ireland).
