David Denton Re-Elected to Gasification Technology Council’s Executive Committee

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — David Denton, a senior director of business development in RTI International's Engineering and Technology Unit, has been re-elected to the Gasification Technology Council’s Executive Committee.

As part of the 12-member executive committee, Denton will counsel the GTC’s executive director, officers and board on issues of importance; help prepare and review recommendations for GTC action; and help provide interim direction for the GTC between board meetings.

At RTI, Denton's role is to identify and drive new government- and industry-sponsored business and research opportunities and to help define and lead strategic planning and direction for RTI's Center for Energy Technology.

The GTC is a trade association of more than 50 companies and organizations that promotes a better understanding of the role that gasification can play in providing the power, chemical and refining industries with economically competitive and environmentally conscious technology options to produce electricity, fuels and chemicals.

Prior to joining RTI, Denton was employed for 36 years at Eastman Chemical Company, where he was a technology fellow and served in many capacities, including director of business development for Eastman Gasification Services Company and director of Energy Policy Development.

David has published his work in industry magazines, presented invited papers at numerous national and international conferences and has testified before the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He holds several U.S. and foreign patents.
