Forensic Science Translation and Implementation

Translating research innovations into practice by advancing criminal justice, public safety, and death investigation

The Forensic Science Translation and Implementation Program moves policy forward by focusing on innovative practices that strengthen justice and improve public safety through the delivery of efficient, interactive, and actionable solutions. We engage expert working groups to understand jurisdictional and national challenges and implementation roadblocks. We identify best practices to inform policy. We translate research findings and outcomes into practice by collaborating with stakeholder communities to raise awareness and gain acceptance. We develop infrastructures and solutions to provide comprehensible resources, organized in central locations to create communities of practice and enhance collaboration. We disseminate evidence-based knowledge through community engagement and multi-faceted outreach efforts. We provide the forensic science, public safety, and justice communities with the latest professional and technical information from the field—sustaining knowledge adoption and implementation.
