Yiyan (Echo) Liu has more than seven years of experience in health economics and health policy research. Her primary research interests are health care markets as well as health care payment and delivery system reforms.
Since joining RTI, Dr. Liu has led quantitative analyses on multiple federally funded research projects, such as evaluating health care reform initiatives for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), estimating quality-of-life changes and risk-factor progressions associated with diabetes complications for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and constructing Medicare-Medicaid dual eligible beneficiary comparison groups for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Dr. Liu has broad empirical modeling and analytical skills, including comparison group methods, multivariate regressions, panel data methodology, quasi-experimental designs, and policy simulations. She has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Health Economics, The Journal of Pediatrics, and Health and Primary Care.
