Michael Shapiro applies 28 years of technology management experience to RTI’s study of electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical decision support (CDS) in community hospitals.

The unintended consequences of health IT in all clinical settings are among Mr. Shapiro’s research interests. He participated in an exhaustive literature review on the impact of health IT on patient safety on behalf of the Institute of Medicine, and has studied remote monitoring and health coaching tools for the care of older adults.
