Laurie Coots Daras, PhD, is a health services researcher and program manager in RTI’s Quality Measurement and Health Policy program. Dr. Coots Daras has been with RTI since 2008 and joined the RTI management team in 2015.
Dr. Coots Daras specializes in conducting data analysis using national datasets, including Medicare claims and assessment data. She works mainly on post-acute care research for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. She currently leads the development of all-cause and potentially preventable hospital readmission measures for the Medicare programs’ post-acute care quality reporting and value-based purchasing programs.
Dr. Coots Daras is a former AHRQ fellow. Her dissertation is an analysis of facility rates of acute care hospital readmission following discharge from post-acute rehabilitation. Before joining RTI, she worked in academic-based research at the University of Michigan, Dartmouth College, and Harvard Medical School.
