Lauren McCormack, PhD, MSPH leads RTI’s Communication Science Practice Area. Her research portfolio bridges the fields of public health and health care with an emphasis on promoting evidence-based communication, patient and community engagement, and informed decision making. She previously served as Vice President of RTI’s Translational Health Science and Public Health Research Divisions and founded its Center for Communication Science.  She is Principal Investigator of a clinical trial comparing the effectiveness of behavioral interventions that support chronic pain management for individuals taking moderate to high doses of opioids. Dr. McCormack has published over 100 manuscripts and five book chapters including a chapter on health literacy measurement for the National Academies of Sciences. She served as Chair of PCORI’s Clinical Effectiveness and Decision Science (CEDS) Advisory Panel is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Gillings School of Global Public Health.
