With more than 30 years of technology commercialization experience, Dan Winfield leads RTI's innovation advisors business, which consults with government, university, and corporate clients. He leads work in competitive technology assessment, market research, and enterprise innovation management.
As part of exploring the role of research organizations in emerging economies, Winfield is currently spearheading international expansion in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, leading projects relating to intellectual property commercialization strategy; research, development, and innovation capacity building; and market analysis. Winfield has supported multiagency technology transfer efforts through problem definition, technology identification, and partnership development, as well as organizing a host of national workshops addressing research needs.
Previously, Winfield held several product development positions in the medical device industry. He has also served on advisory boards for national studies on assistive technologies for persons with sensory, hearing, and/or vision impairments, and he chaired the medical advisory panel for a robotic-assisted microsurgery project for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
